All about our Pet Portrait commissions!
All portraits are professionally framed by me, ensuring the best preservation of the pencil art. Commissioning a pet portrait is a special and personal experience, and I aim to make it as relaxed and meaningful as possible. From our first conversation to the final pencil stroke, I work closely with you to ensure every detail reflects the unique spirit of your beloved pet.
Archival Paper & Paper Size
I utilise archival-quality paper for my commissions, choosing between drafting film or Pastelmat based on what best suits the specific project to ensure optimal detail. You may include up to three pets (or subjects) in your commission. The available paper sizes range from A5 to A3, catering to different preferences and requirements.
Turnaround Time
The typical turnaround time for commissions ranges from 2 to 4 weeks. However, this duration may vary based on the specifics of your order, including the size of the paper and the number of subjects involved. I will provide regular updates on the progress of your commission and will confirm a completion date upon booking your order.
Communication
Throughout the process, I ensure open communication to foster a warm and trustful relationship, making you feel engaged and assured throughout. I will provide regular updates on the progress of your commission, allowing you to stay informed. Before shipping the final product, I will send a last preview photo for your review. This is an opportunity for you to share your thoughts and request any minor adjustments before payment is processed.
Reference Photo
When enquiring about a commission, it is important to have an appropriate reference photo prepared to facilitate a smooth process. Below are essential details on how to capture the ideal image. A reference photo serves as the primary source for your commission, so select one that effectively showcases your pet's unique personality and character.
If you're commissioning a memorial portrait, I'll work closely with you to create the most meaningful likeness possible from the photos you have.
Sometimes the best results come from combining several images, so feel free to send a handful, even if they're not perfect. I'll do my best to capture their spirit and personality from what's available.

Photo Advice
Taking the purrfect reference photo - a guide

Aim for natural lighting for accurate colour and detail, still poses and down to eye level. Get close to your pet to capture a photo true to their personality (use treats for persuasion if you have to!) - avoid flashes as they cause a red glare and are uncomfortable for the pet.
